Husband Says Sara Evans Lied About Money

June 26, 200

Sara Evans' estranged husband claims she lied about her financial worth in legal documents her attorneys submitted in May. Evans filed for divorce from Craig Schelske in October 2006. In additional court documents filed Tuesday (June 26) in Franklin, Tenn., Schelske alleges that Evans underreported the value of their home as well as her copyrights, royalties and other sources of income for artists. The divorce case could go to trial as early as December 2007.

Evans' divorce trial could be heard by year's end

By MITCHELL KLINE
FRANKLIN - A Williamson County judge told attorneys representing country singer Sara Evans and her husband Craig Schelske, who are going through a divorce, that they should be ready to go to trial by the end of the year.

Neither Evans nor Schelske appeared in Judge Robert E. Lee Davies’ courtroom today, where their lawyers argued over when and if the case should be set for trial. Evan’s attorney, John Hollins Sr., said Schelske doesn’t want the divorce to be finalized because he is being financially supported by his wife.

"He’s never wanted this settled," Hollins said. "He doesn’t want a divorce. He hasn’t had a job since she signed with a record label."

Schelske’s attorney, Anne Russell, said she was not ready to set the case for trial. The couple had gone to a mediator to work out certain terms of the divorce, but those issues have not been resolved.

Among the disagreements the two are having is how much money Evans actually has. Schelske has filed a motion alleging that Evans underreported her assets by more than $1 million during mediation in May. He has also asked to have the couple’s three children live with him in Oregon during the summer. http://www.ashlandcitytimes.com

Evans Seeks Trial Date For Divorce

Country singer Sara Evans wants a Williamson County court to set a trial date for her divorce case.

According to The Tennessean, Evans claims her estranged husband, Craig Schelske, is not sticking to an agreement to settle the case.

The two sides reached an agreement in May, but Evans now said she wants the case to go to trial.
